Jog-A-Thon

I went to my girls school for their annual Jog-A-Thon on Friday September 9th.  For the opening ceremony they were remembering 9/11.  There were many military and law enforcement there.  They had a flag ceremony by the JROTC and even the Mayor was there.  We had a moment of silence which brought tears to my eyes.  It was funny because the principal had asked everyone who remembered 9/11 to raise their hand.  Some of the 4th and 5th graders raised their hands.....they were only 1 or 2 years old at that time!  Anyway, following the ceremony the whole school walked one lap around being led by police cars, firetruck, etc. with their sirens going.  It was pretty neat.

I love how you can see the water in this picture and the girls face in the front.  They gave water guns to the parents to squirt the kids as they ran by to keep them cool.  Alia told me she wanted me to put her hair in a ponytale so that when she runs it could swing back and forth!
