Mother's Day and Alia's 4th Birthday

My children were so nice today and let me sleep in until 7:15. That never happens! They are usually up so early. As soon as Travis got home from working we let Alia open up her presents. It was a good idea because it kept Katelyn and Alia happy and busy playing until it was time to go to church. My mom gave her this new pink dress. It is so cute! Alia just loves it!

We were running a little bit late to church because Katelyn was refusing to get ready. Anyway, when we got there a lot of the ward members were out in the hall. Apparently there had been a power outage earlier that morning and the first ward was only able to meet for an hour. The next ward decided to do their meetings opposite and have sacrament meeting last since our chapel is completely dark without electricity. (By the time they had sacrament meeting the power was back on.) So we didn't get started until 30 minutes after we should have because we were waiting for the previous ward to finish. We ended up having sacrament meeting and Relief Society and then leaving after that so that we wouldn't run over. But the good thing is that we didn't end up being late after all!

Katelyn and Alia were not very good at church for me though. You would think that since it was Mother's Day they would be on their best behavior, but they do the complete opposite. Which is usually the case on Mother's Day. I need to remember to expect that every year. But I did enjoy seeing Katelyn and Alia up on the stand singing a song for me with the rest of the primary. Although Alia just stood there with Katelyn and didn't sing.

After church I made dinner and when Travis woke up we had cake and ice cream. She picked out this Cinderella cake. Alia couldn't blow out the candles though. She just couldn't blow hard enough so Katelyn ended up helping her. But it scared Tara and she started crying. Poor little girl. Alia had a fun birthday! Katelyn and Alia pretty much spent all of their free time playing with her new toys.

The dress looks very cute on Alia. So glad she likes it. Happy Birthday!
I remember many Mother's Days spent being discouraged because MY kids weren't behaving the way they should either. Mother's Day is much better after the children are grown and really appreciate their mom. Thanks kids!
Happy Mother's Day Julie!

When I saw the pictures of Alia I thought it was Katelyn at first! It's amazing how fast they are growing!
